  • Checked all vehicle tires. Found right rear tire low at 28 PSI and and a screw near the sidewall that is non-repairable. Recommend 2 new tires.
  • During service noted upper left tail light bulb and one license plate bulb were inoperative. Removed bulbs for inspection and found them burnt out. Replaced with new bulbs and tested operation, all exterior lights working properly at this time.
  • Includes: Change engine oil and filter. Check transmission fluid level and adjust as needed. Check coolant condition and pressure check system. Check brake fluid level and condition. Check power steering fluid level and condition. Check belts; coolant, fuel, and vacuum hoses for damage/degradation. Check antenna operation (if applicable). Lube all doors and latches.   • Supported engine on cross bar. Removed front suspension components to allow axle removal. Removed axles and disconnected transmission mount and wiring. Disconnected transmission assembly from engine and removed transmission. Replaced axle seals in used transmission and installed transmission into vehicle. Reconnected transmission cooler lines and wiring. Reinstalled transmission mount and axles. Filled transmission to check for leaks, ok. Reinstalled remaining suspension components, engine covers, and accessories. Test drove vehicle to check transmission operation. No noise present out of replacement trans. Rechecked fluid level and test drove vehicle a second time. Transmission functioning properly.
  • Test drove vehicle prior to service to try and replicate customer concern. Found noise audible at nearly all times and noise was dependent on vehicle and engine speeds. Raised vehicle on lift and checked for source of noise with vehicle running in gear. Noise is coming from inside of transmission housing. Recommend replacement of transmission to correct issue.

  • Connect scan tool and checked for codes. Numerous codes stored throughout multiple modules. Air bag and check engine light are on dash. Codes in ECU are P3078(Idle Airflow Range) and P0411(Incorrect Airflow). Removed air intake and filter box to check intake for leaks. Commanded air injection pump to turn on via scan tool, pump is operating properly. Added smoke to system and turned pump on again. Found air leaks from both air injection hoses. During inspection, also found intake and throttle body covered with carbon buildup. Recommend replacing air injection hoses and performing a throttle body/intake cleaning.
  • Replace cracked air injection hoses. During repair, perform throttle body and intake cleaning. Clear codes and test drive vehicle to set emissions monitors and recheck for any error lights. Removed intake and engine covers. Removed cracked air injection hoses from pump to intake hose, and from pump to valve. Performed throttle body cleaning procedure while intake is off. Reset throttle body adaptations. Installed new air injection hoses and reinstalled intake piping and engine covers. Performed emissions monitor test via scan tool. After two tries, air injection monitor had not set. Pump is turning on at times during test drive. Noted brake pedal is hard sometimes during test drive. Recommend reattempting in morning with vehicle cold. After sitting over night, retried setting air injection emissions monitor. Monitor will not set via scan tool. Test drove again. Rescanned vehicle for error codes. No codes stored or pending at this time, and no check engine light on dash. Further time needed to diagnose air injection system if monitor does not self set.

  • Lubricate and check chassis. Change oil and oil filter. Check air filter and breather filter. Check all fluid levels and tire pressures.
  • Replace cabin filter element. Reassemble filter housing and access panel.
  • Test drove vehicle to duplicate customer concern. Noise is speed dependent on vehicle motion, not engine speed. Suspect drivetrain or wheel bearing source. Lifted vehicle and checked components, found right rear wheel bearing very noisy when spun by hand. Recommend new hub assembly. Removed rear wheel and brake assembly. Disconnected control arm and removed hub assembly. Cleaned mounting surfaces and installed new hub. Reattached suspension and brake components. Reinstalled wheel. No further noise when spun by hand. Test drove vehicle after repairs, noise level is now at a normal level at highway speeds.

  • While engine covers were off removed battery tray and air filter housing. Removed tensioner cover. Loosened belt tensioner to remove belt from idler pulley. Removed engine cover bracket from AC compressor. Removed AC compressor and AC line hold down bolts. Moved compressor out of way and removed belt tensioner retaining bolt. Removed belt from engine and installed new belt. Reassembled tensioner, AC compressor, brackets, and battery tray.

  • Check coolant level and condition. Pressure test cooling system for leaks. Inspect hoses and cooling system components. Check operation of cooling fans. Removed radiator cap and engine cover. Connected pressure tester and attempted to add pressure to system. Heard bubbling sound in driver side of engine bay. Checked for source of noise. Found heater hose fitting cracked and leaking. Hose goes from upper heat hose to lower radiator hose T. Recommend replacing hose with damaged fitting. Need to drain coolant and disconnect upper and lower radiator hoses from engine to access broken hose. Reconnect hoses after replacement and fill and bleed cooling system prior to checking for any additional leaks. Removed upper and lower radiator hoses from engine. Removed broken heater hose assembly. Replaced heater hose clamp with new unit and installed new hose. Reattached radiator hoses. Filled cooling system and pressure tested. No additional leaks present. Bled cooling system and test drove vehicle. No further overheating and coolant level is steady.

  • Test drove vehicle to confirm customer complaint. All the noises heard while driving around block. Also noted ABS light is on. Lifted vehicle and inspected front suspension and brake components for source of noise. All components have surface rust and corrosion present. While inspecting individual components, found passenger side wheel hub noisy when turning wheel by hand. Suspect a failed bearing inside of wheel hub assembly. Recommend new wheel hub prior to further diagnostics. Removed brake caliper and rotor from suspension upright. Removed axle retaining nut and loosened front drive axle from hub. Removed hub retaining bolts and loosened hub assembly from upright. Removed hub and cleaned mounting surfaces of corrosion. Tested old hub by hand and was able to recreate grinding noises. New hub spins smoothly and quietly. Installed new hub and reattached suspension upright and axle nut. Reinstalled brake assembly and wheel. Test drove vehicle. ABS warning light still on, but no further grinding, whirring, or squealing noises heard.

2009 Volkswagen GTI

  • Connected scan tool and checked for codes. Light off, but codes are stored for idle control higher than expected (P0507) and fuel trim on bank 1 (P0171). Test drove vehicle and monitored live data. Vehicle running normally, but fuel trims are too high. Suspect an air leak in intake system. Removed engine covers and air filter housing. Smoke checked vehicle, found a leak coming from turbocharger inlet hose after MAF. Inspected hose, found large crack in side of hose. Recommend replacement of hose prior to further diagnosis. Removed intake piping and hose. Replaced hose with new unit. Reassembled intake piping. Cleared codes and test drove vehicle. No codes stored or pending, and live data no longer shows lean conditions from unmetered air. Reinstalled engine covers and test drove a second time. No idle surging or hunting present and no check engine light or codes.
  • Installed new hardware for front license plate.
