Services Performed
- Possible rear main seal/ valve cover gasket. Cleaned engine and added oil dye. Test drove vehicle and reinspected. Found oil leaking from rear main seal. Recommend replacement of rear main seal and oil pan gasket as first course of action. Drained engine oil. Disconnected exhaust system from manifolds. Removed oil pan from engine. Removed rear main seal pieces from engine. Cleaned mounting surfaces and oil pan. Installed new rear main seal assembly. Installed oil pan with new gasket. Torqued oil pan hardware to spec. Reinstalled dust covers on transmission. Replaced exhaust nuts with new parts to replace broken tabs. Reinstalled exhaust components. Added fresh engine oil. Changed oil filter to new. Test started vehicle and checked system for leaks. OK. Test drove vehicle and rechecked. No leaks noted at this time.
- Cleaned associated parts in hot tank to remove oil residue and debris.
