- Inspected vehicle for customer complaints. Test drove vehicle to check for light and idle speed. Idle speed with AC on is just over 1000rpm, and drops occasionally. This is normal operating range for increased idle speed with AC engaged. Noted AC is not getting as cold as it should. Connected scan tool and checked for any error codes in history or current. No error codes stored or pending. Checked oil pressure in scan tool, pressure reading within normal range. Raised vehicle and inspected. Found oil filter is an economy brand which may be causing restriction or other issues with oiling system. Checked oil pressure switch, it is reading withing spec for internal resistance at this time, but is original. Recommend installing higher quality oil filter and new oil pressure gauge as first step. Removed oil filter and replaced with new part. Note: Correct filter for vehicle is much larger than filter that was installed. Possible filter was a restriction to oil flow due to size constraint. Disconnected oil pressure sender and removed from oil filter housing. Cleaned port and installed new sensor. Reconnected wiring. Started vehicle and topped off oil level. No oil pressure light returned even on test drive. Monitor vehicle for light to return. If light returns, further diagnosis will be required.
